...

This would typically be the day that I post up a new preview (and I do have more previews to post up) BUT I really need to take a breather from managing the two blogs so the Legendary Blog will have a brief hiatus for at least the month of August.
I am confident that this little hiatus will aid me in wrapping up all of Legendary and will give me an opportunity to catch up on everything. Probably the best thing to mention now, will be when I DO update this blog in September I will also be able to finally reveal the really important information pertaining to Legendary.
See you in September!

MILAREPA Preview

Hey it's Wednesday, so it is PREVIEW time at the Legendary blog. Not too many stories left, although I am waiting on a few stories that will hopefully come in these next couple weeks.
For those of you who read Image Comics' PROOF, you should be pretty familiar with the main character, as well as the artist/creator of 'Milarepa'. For those of you who are not familiar with PROOF, well let's just say that you are really missing out!
Kelly Tindall has created an eight page Archie Snow story entitled 'Milarepa' and I am proud to say that it will be included in the Legendary anthology amongst the rest of the stories (although there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to include it in the anthology). Kelly sent me an amazingly illustrated and wonderfully written story and I am probably going to get some gruff for only posting half the story, but then again it's just a preview and I just want people to get a glimpse of what Legendary will have to offer when it's on the shelves.
For those of you who did not know, I was at the San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend. I was hoping to have a full mock-up of Legendary to show a few companies (although I am shooting for one main company) but that wasn't the case. I did however talk to that 'main' company and hopefully I will be able to share in about a month or so what I know.
More next week!

DreamTime Preview

My sincerest apologies to Jake, as I am heading off to the airport to fly out for the San Diego Comic-Con, so I won't be able to say much (which doesn't mean I don't like the submission, just need to try to get some sleep for the convention).
So here is the final of the three submissions from the Space Gun Crew. I don't know how many times I bothered Jake when I was asking people to do something for the anthology, but I know I kept on pestering him and he was pestering back!!! He told me that he really wanted to try something experimental with these pages and doing an aboriginal creation legend. There are some really enjoyable things happening on these pages, but it really gets good on the next four.

Hey! I almost forgot!!! Since I am going to be attending San Diego there is a decent chance that I might have some information for when and where for the published version of Legendary!!! I guess all I can ask is that everyone crosses their fingers and to keep an eye up here for upcoming news! NEW PREVIEW next week as usual. I only have three left plus some possible late entries, so all the previews are almost up!

It's Only a Golem Preview

It's Wednesday and time for a NEW PREVIEW!!!
I believe I mentioned, but for three weeks I was going to post previews from members of the Space Gun Crew in a row. This is the second of three and showcases the artwork of Matthew Warlick. I have to apologize to Matthew, as I am preparing for San Diego currently and don't have an ample amount of time to ramble about his work, so I can only trust that his work will speak for itself. These are the first three pages to the six page story and like all previews you'll have to pick up the anthology when it comes out to figure out the whole story.
Next week we round off the Space Gun Crew with Jake Ekiss and his DreamTime story.
See you next week (for a short amount of time again)!

Once Upon A Time In China Preview

Sorry for the belated post, but it's still Wednesday!!! Exhaustion preparing for San Diego has been settling in lately, to the point where it's difficult for me to even stay awake anymore.
So today's post brings Evan Bryce's Once Upon a Time in China preview, or as I refer to it--the Monkey King story. I have been amazed by Evan's work since I saw it at the gaijin studio forums where I lurked, then he popped over to the drawingboard forums where I regularly post and I was still drawn back by his talent and the level of quality and the amount of work he was posting. I believe he even posts almost regularly/daily on his blog, so it's one to definately check out!
One of Evan's posts was a monkey-type character and he wanted to put it into sequential format. I immediately jumped onto it as quick as possible for Legendary, and thus the new evolutionof Legendary began. So blame Evan for the reboot of the anthology from it's former depths, and blame Evan for my wanting to make the anthology stronger and better than it was (although I believe the original was still pretty damn strong, but the new version is 300% times better!). And most of all blame Evan for being able to do such quality work that it makes us all feel small. He's going to be a name to watch for, and when he makes it to the 'big scene' don't be surprised if he takes the comic industry by storm.
Don't tell me that I didn't warn you...

MIRACLES of ST. NICHOLAS Preview

Sweet Christmas! Santa Claus is coming to this blog!!!
Well it's that time of the week, and December is far away but I bring Christmas about six months early (as I try to each and every week). With the anthology my biggest goal was to have a little something for everyone, although I realize that is quite impossible, but I can at least try. And how can I not? In one corner we have everything from simplified, to Jack Kirby-inspired, to creepy and even Johnny Cash! Then we have Jon Morris' tale of the Miracles of St. Nicholas which is a wonderful and quirky tale that I am sure you'll all enjoy reading. There are 12 pages total in his story, so you'll get a small slice for now.
The next three weeks will bring three stories from the Space Gun crew! I hope you'll be back for more of that wonderful Legendary pie. Not to mention that I will know more about the publication status after those three weeks, so it is an exciting time to come in and check out the new stuff!

The Visit Preview

It's Wednesday so that means another new preview for the Legendary anthology.
Today's preview is THE VISIT by Rick Cortes. Rick is a big fan of Hellboy and the Hellboy Universe. It is obvious mainly because of his moniker on the drawingboard forums (HellboyOne) and his timely updates on the Mike Mignola thread. It is also obvious with this wonderfully creepy and haunting tale! If you are a fan of Hellboy or anything that bumps in a night, then you'll be in for a real treat with Rick's story!
New preview in 7 days!
